Bring your friends and family for an exciting morning of creating artful gifts, cards and holiday trinkets to inspire the Children at Rady Hospital and for the loved ones in your life
Alice laughed. "There's no use trying," she said. "One can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." -Lewis Carroll
As My Art Shed entered its 3rd year on November 2nd, I was reminded of one of my favorite quotes from Alice in Wonderland. How fitting, I thought as I reminisced how it was not long ago that the idea of My Art Shed was merely an impossible dream. It could not have been without the support from you; the parents, students and friends, who have allowed us to share your creative journeys that have made My Art Shed a reality. Creativity takes courage and strength, but is undoubtedly worth the battle; so for your willingness to learn, your vulnerability and your openness to the possibility of an artistic life, I thank you.
Lewis Carroll's quote also brings to mind a dear friend of mine, who at only 10 years old has been facing the biggest test of her strength and courage, fighting an often seemingly impossible rare bone cancer. I have had the honor of teaching her at her home and during treatments at Rady Children's Hospital, and to be in her presence is like standing next to the kindest, most beautiful angel you have ever laid eyes on.
In honor of Giorgia and all of the other angels who are being challenged in their belief in the impossible, My Art Shed invites you to create artful gifts to inspire the Children at Rady Hospital and for people in your own life during selected classes, camps and special events.
