Need a little more time to finish that painting or drawing? Join models Michelle Gregoire and Jonathan Thompson for a 10-hour pose within an elaborately crafted scene setup, inspired by “The Loves of Acis and Galatea” by Alexandre Charles Guillemot (1827). Held at My Art Shed in La Jolla during the last weekend in July (28th-30th), this extended figurative setup is built to allow the artist time to complete a more refined end-product. Come and celebrate with this sea-nymph and her lover in the triumph of their everlasting love!
Space is limited, so sign up right away! Admission may be purchased through My Art Shed, and must be done by Tuesday, July 18th. Spend the weekend with us (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) for $75 or just Saturday and Sunday for $65.
Those who join us for our Friday evening Opening Reception & Mingle will have first opportunity to choose their vantage point, and up to 15 hours access to the scene setup, with both models in pose during 10 of those hours. Those attending only Saturday and Sunday have up to 12 hours access to the scene setup, 8 hours being with models in pose. To sustain us on our journey, light refreshments and beverages will be available throughout (admission fee includes one alcoholic beverage per session, additional available for purchase).
Each day the studio will open an hour early, before models are in pose, to allow plenty of time to get set up and settled in, and perhaps to begin detailing the background and items in the scene. Artists may also stay a little after models have finished, to continue working on their piece. Easels, tables, drawing boards, stools, chairs provided. Other materials may be available, inquire for details. Artist stations, equipment, materials may remain set up for the entire weekend, as there are no other activities occurring in the space during this time. Drawing/painting in any medium is welcome (ventilation allows for use of oils). Photos are not included with admission, and are $20 per vantage point. Photos are for reference only and may not be published, nor used in any way other than as a visual reference to complete an art piece. There are several parking options, including a parking lot available to patrons of My Art Shed, street parking out front, and nearby residential streets with no time limits.
